Rajura taluka in Chandrapur district under the Maharashtra-Telangana border is known as a very remote, mountainous, tribal and Naxal-affected taluka. Rajura taluka was still under Nizamshahi rule after Indian independence. On 17th September 1948, Rajura taluka was liberated from Nizamshahi. In such situation, the late Prabhakarrao Mamulkar Saheb (former MLA), started an educational institution called Adarsh Shikshan
Prasarak Mandal, Rajura and provided education facilities to the tribal, dalit and extremely poor students of this department.
Honorable Prabhakarrao Mamulkar sir started Shri Shivaji College of Arts, Commerce and Science in 1984.
